Founding of CAMPFIRE Open Innovation Lab gGmbH, 19th February 2026

Today we have reached another important mile­stone for the CAMPFIRE alli­ance: the foun­ding of CAMPFIRE Open Inno­va­tion Lab gGmbH in Poppen­dorf, Meck­len­burg-Western Pome­rania, with Professor Dr. Hinrich Mohr serving as mana­ging director.

As Germany’s first non-profit rese­arch insti­tute focused exclu­si­vely on ammonia, it will develop test envi­ron­ments for power-to-ammonia and ammonia-to-power tech­no­lo­gies on an indus­trial scale at the Yara Deutsch­land Rostock indus­trial site. The share­holder is CAMPFIRE AG; leading rese­arch insti­tutes from the CAMPFIRE alli­ance will join in the future.

With this, the CAMPFIRE alli­ance has laid another important foun­da­tion for the continued deve­lo­p­ment of green ammonia as a fuel and energy storage solu­tion, crea­ting new economic oppor­tu­ni­ties for our regional compa­nies and their part­ners across Germany and Europe.
