A sunny and exciting morning in the marina of Yachtwerft Greifswald with around 30 guests of the German-Polish business trip as part of a great event organized by the information and advisory network of the Euroregion Pomerania and the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald. We have so much in common with our Polish neighbors — the location on the southern Baltic Sea coast and over 1000 years of shared history, language and culture, but also shared economic potential, for example through the maritime industry and locations for renewable energy production. Only in strong partnerships without borders can we achieve an industrial focus and a unique selling point on a European and global scale and establish regional value chains in the market ramp-up of ammonia and hydrogen.
We were very pleased to present the “Ammonia Sherpa” to the guests. Developed by the CAMPFIRE partners as part of the BMBF program WIR! Wandel durch Innovation in der Region program, is based on a coupled ammonia cracker engine system and a high-temperature fuel cell that runs directly on ammonia. This also includes supply and safety systems on board as well as a recommendation for action for the development of the legal framework for ammonia/powered sports yachts. Many thanks to our Landrat Michael Sack, the district’s hydrogen coordinator Henrike Knopf, the information and advisory network of the Euroregion Pomerania and above all our Polish guests for the very interesting time. We have developed great ideas for cooperation with Polish companies in the field of ammonia and look forward to the next joint steps.
