In line with our roadmap for research and development in the region of Northeast Germany, cost-optimised production methods for basic innovations are being developed and implemented. This is a prerequisite for establishing decentralised synthesis plants that will produce the carbon-free hydrogen carrier ammonia as an infrastructure and storage solution, as well as emission-free propulsion systems for shipping.
At the CAMPFIRE World Café 2020, held on 2 October 2020 at Ozeaneum Stralsund, we provided an update on our current activities in the implementation phase and exchanged ideas about the CAMPFIRE strategy for green ammonia as a fuel and energy carrier. We also discussed new pathways to a carbon-free hydrogen economy 2.0.
The exchange took the form of a World Café that focused on the topics of shipping, alternative applications, central vs. decentralised ammonia production and green ammonia as a transport solution. Afterwards, the participants evaluated new approaches for the implementation of green ammonia to prepare for our next steps.
