On Thursday, 7 March 2019, Patrick Dahlemann, Parliamentary State Secretary for Western Pomerania, visited the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Research and Technology (INP) in Greifswald. He was welcomed to the Institute by the INP directors, professors Klaus-Dieter Weltmann and Dirk Uhrlandt, and by the CAMPFIRE core team. The meeting focused on opening up new pathways to energy storage in Western Pomerania. Meeting participants discussed the approaches that the CAMPFIRE project is developing, which will serve as an engine for sustainable economic growth in the Szczecin metropolitan region. As a new energy storage medium, ammonia will play an important role in marine mobility in the future as well as in the further development of sustainable industrial areas.
Mr Dahlemann later thanked the Institute for the visit, tweeting: ‘A true pioneer in Western Pomerania: INP Greifswald = cutting-edge research “made in the city of Greifswald”. Thanks for a very exciting meeting. This kind of innovation rounds out the energy transition – above all, new opportunities build public acceptance and create more jobs in this field!’
