On 10 June, we held our online partner workshop in PK1 with the topic “Synthesis of Membrane Electrode Assemblies for Medium Temperature Electrochemical Ammonia Synthesis and Utilization”. The focus was first on updates on the results from the ongoing projects CF04_1 “Thin layer based membrane-electrode assemblies for the solid-state ammonia synthesis” and the EU project CF05_2 “HiPowAR EU project — Highly efficient powder production by ammonia total oxidation in a membrane reactor” by the project teams. The partners were particularly pleased with the two keynote lectures by Prof. Michael Stoukides, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, on “Ammonia synthesis in ceramic proton conducting reactors” and by Dr. Aleksey Yaremchenko, Aveiro Institute of Materials, Portugal, on “Research on oxygen-ionic and mixed conducting ceramics in CICECO/UA: Research facilities and recent developments”. Further valuable impulses for strategy development and CAMPFIRE project planning in PK1 were provided by presentations on “Superalloy membranes” by the new partners Christian Voelter, Technical University of Braunschweig and “Porous metals fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering” by Dr. Abdullah Riaz, University of Rostock. Afterwards, the approx. 30 participants discussed ideas for the future projects and orientation of PK1 in the next phase of implementation. We would like to thank all participants for their input and the successful event.
