The focus of the Harbour-Workshop was the issue of transport as a decisive factor for the rapid ramp-up of the green hydrogen economy in Europe and worldwide. In addition to pipelines, ports in particular play a crucial role. Possible obstacles along this path must be identified and these must be translated into research questions that can then be addressed by suitable international consortia from industry and science. As part of a select group of participants, Jens Wartmann, ZBT, Angela Kruth, INP, and Judith Schäfer, IKEM, participated in the workshop as members of the CAMPFIRE strategy team, focusing on the ship-borne transport of hydrogen. Together with stakeholders from the Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland and Germany, we identified common research needs and established new contacts for the formation of research consortia.
