Fellow knowers wanted! Ammonia is a fantastic energy storage and carbon-free fuel, but most people know it more as a chemical feedstock for fertilizer production and the building materials industry. At the Long Night of Knowledge 2022 organized by Sphinx ET Agency for Zeitgeist Development, a task force on population acceptance of green ammonia was held. The wonderful Ammo team conducted surveys on the knowledge landscape of ammonia among visitors. For those interested in science and technology, CAMPFIRE conducted a series of lectures and poster presentations. Many thanks to Dr. Arend Rösel (Uni Rostock) and Dr. Jan Wallis (INP) for the presentation on new materials for Green Ammonia Farming, Prof. Bert Buchholz (Uni Rostock) and Dr. Katharina Moritz (ZBT) on the use of ammonia in combustion engines and reconversion to hydrogen by means of ammonia crackers as well as Friederike Alliolo (IKEM) on the legal framework and Klaas Büsen (University of Applied Sciences Wismar) on future logistics and infrastructure.
In the evening, partners and members of the strategy team took part in a panel discussion in the CAMPFIRE Amphitheater. Prof. Bert Buchholz, Prof. Karsten Müller, Dr. Donald Höpfner, Dr. Angela Kruth and Jens Wartmann discussed together with the audience questions on green ammonia and its use as fuel and energy storage as well as the perspective of a future ammonia eco system supply.
A premiere was given to our “AmmonYak” — symbol of a reliable work animal that has served man for many hundreds of years — along difficult and inaccessible paths. For many decades, ammonia has saved the population from famine and is not a game changer for an emission free future energy supply. Great highlights were also the fireshow and energy gnome Ammon as well as the delicious supply of regional products from Mamümama Mobil. Many thanks to the Sphinx ET for a super successful event!
