CAMPFIRE at the side event WATTfossilfrei of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Conference on November 27 to December 1, 2022 in Wilhelmshaven

As part of the 14th Trila­teral Wadden Sea Confe­rence, where repre­sen­ta­tives of federal and state autho­ri­ties from the Nether­lands, Denmark and Germany discussed further action to protect the Wadden Sea, an exci­ting side event on the WATT­fos­sil­frei project took place at the Logen­haus Wilhelms­haven. Various suppliers of fossil-free propul­sion concepts such as Torqeedo and GPJoule presented their emis­sion-free concepts. Toge­ther, Moritz Jösch, Hanse­Yachts AG, Jens Wart­mann, ZBT and Angela Kruth, INP, presented tech­no­lo­gies for the decar­bo­niza­tion of small and recrea­tional ship­ping. The focus was on the solu­tions deve­loped in the CF07 project for a propul­sion system and ship design of an ammonia-powered “life-style” sport yacht, as well as an ammonia-based supply concept for small and recrea­tional ship­ping with e‑drives. Also important here are discus­sions on the possible envi­ron­mental impact of ammonia on the deli­cate balance of the land and water ecosys­tems of the UNESCO Wadden Sea National Park.
