Project start CF07 Functional model of an ammonia sports yacht

In June, the kick-off meeting of the CAMPFIRE joint project CF07 “Deve­lo­p­ment of the func­tional model of an ammonia-powered sport yacht with a hybrid system consis­ting of a solid oxide fuel cell and an engine” of the part­ners Hanse­Yachts, sunfire, ISC, FVTR, ZBT, IKEM, YARA, auto­soft and INP took place.  The project is funded with 1.1 Mio € by BMBF WIR! and aims at the deve­lo­p­ment of an adapted SOFC system for on-board power supply with ammonia as well as the deve­lo­p­ment of an emis­sion-free secon­dary drive based on an ammonia cracker and ammonia-hydrogen engine. Further goals of the part­ners are the deve­lo­p­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of the tank system and infra­struc­tures, the conside­ra­tion of the legal frame­work and the elabo­ra­tion of regu­la­tions for the hand­ling and trans­port of the energy source ammonia. The func­tional model of the sports yacht will be serve as a “Real-Labor” in the part­ners’ future CAMPFIRE Open Inno­va­tion Lab for further rese­arch projects.
