In June, the kick-off meeting of the CAMPFIRE joint project CF07 “Development of the functional model of an ammonia-powered sport yacht with a hybrid system consisting of a solid oxide fuel cell and an engine” of the partners HanseYachts, sunfire, ISC, FVTR, ZBT, IKEM, YARA, autosoft and INP took place. The project is funded with 1.1 Mio € by BMBF WIR! and aims at the development of an adapted SOFC system for on-board power supply with ammonia as well as the development of an emission-free secondary drive based on an ammonia cracker and ammonia-hydrogen engine. Further goals of the partners are the development and implementation of the tank system and infrastructures, the consideration of the legal framework and the elaboration of regulations for the handling and transport of the energy source ammonia. The functional model of the sports yacht will be serve as a “Real-Labor” in the partners’ future CAMPFIRE Open Innovation Lab for further research projects.
